Time to Race!
Ok, so you see from the upcoming event I'm going to Eurorennen 2009 in Jacksonville, NC. My brother-in-law is rolling with me and we've got a room for Friday night since things start at 08:00 that Saturday morning. But the ultimate question is "to race" or "not to race". I've never raced my car in a track or drag strip and I'm always wondering what I would put down for the 1/4 time.
Well before any racing can start I need to get a helmet. The race registration on the Eurorennen website clearly state that you must have at least Snell 95 rated helmet or better. So I start looking on Craigslist, eBay etc. to try and find a used helmet. Hmm, not much luck there since most or full face motorcycle helmets. I'm looking for a open face auto racing helmet much like this. Now this is where things get a little confusing. Because the registration page just say Snell 95 or better and doesn't specify M or SA. So while the helmet example above is stating as being for Automotive racing, the one I purchased for $98 carries a Snell M2005 rating. Oh well, it's on the way and email into Eurorennen to confirm they will accept the standard.
